Workshops Feminization of Labor: Domestic Work and Affect in a Transnational Context

This series of workshops aims to establish a North/South dialogue by enabling an exchange between Latin American (Brazil, Argentina) and European (UK, Spain) scholars on three levels: (a) through the creation of common fora (workshops); (b) engagement with individual work; and the exchange with local colleagues and postgraduate students (research seminars and postgraduate students taught courses); (c) the dissemination of the workshop proceedings (two special journal issues in English and Portuguese). Concretely, it aims to establish a collaboration and research network on the feminization of labour with a focus on affect and domestic work between the University of Manchester (SPLAS, LACS, Institute for Transnational Studies, MDCSN, RICC) and the Brazilian universities UFSM - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria and UFRGS - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. This exchange aims not only to enrich a dialogue beyond continental borders, but also between disciplines, in particular, between Humanities and Social Sciences.
